I guess I'm sort of an all-around geek, but I especially love languages, music, and renfaires.
I study German, Latin, French and Ancient Greek, plus Esperanto and Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs on the side. Next on my list are Italian, Japanese, Finnish, Hebrew, Korean, and Akkadian. Of course, my list pretty much includes every language ever spoken, but those are the ones I want to learn the most right now.
I have also been singing my entire life. I was in school choir in grades 4-12. By the time I got to high school, I was the ultimate choir geek. I was on the choir leadership council. I was a section leader (Tenors FTW!). I auditioned for and made honor choirs. I ate lunch in the choir room with my other choir geek friends. I was even given the 'Spirit of the Choir' award at our senior awards ceremony.
Singing also led me into renfaire geekdom. One of my choir friends let me know about this renfaire singing group which was holding auditions. I've been with them for five years now. I am now obsessed with history and fashion of the Tudor period.
Which made cringe when our community theatre's production of 'Beauty and the Beast' mixed all kinds of period styled clothing. The Beast was Elizabethan, LeFou was colonial, Gaston (I played Gaston) was Tudor, Lumiere was Cavalier, the Silly Girls were Victorian, and Belle at different points in the show was generic Disney peasant, Edwardian and Antebellum.
I also love to bake, knit, read/edit Wikipedia, take photos, read webcomics, blog and spend way too much time on Facebook.
